CLUSTER EVENTS 2008

Networking Event

Thursday
25th June 2009

5.30pm - 7.30pm

Informal networking event for the Auckland ICT sector

We invite you to attend the monthly networking event of the Auckland ICT Cluster. We are continuing with the new format of group discussions as an integral part of the event. This has been very well received and it is a very effective way of meeting new people and having some very lively discussions.

We are delighted to have an average of over 50 people attend the monthly cluster events this year. Word is spreading that these networking events are not to be missed!

Remember - both knowledge sharing and 'who you know' play a big part in business success. Be sure to pass this invitation on to your colleagues and contacts.

Our June event will be the Annual General Meeting and Social Media Seminar

“Hands Up Who’s a Twit?” – Wayne, the twit in MySpace, blogged my LinkedIn., FaceBook photos...what a tweet!

The Tweet Twins (aka Kevin and Jenny) will lead a lively informative look at Web 2.0 technologies including Social Media.

We promise to give you know-how so you can immediately improve your online presence. We will introduce concepts, tools and techniques that anyone in business can utilise and seriously must use to redefine their online presence.

These will put you ahead of competitors, monetise your knowledge and draw customers from unknown markets. These tools can give incredible brand and market profile. Creating a substantial online presence is possible for $0 down. Significant markets, opportunities, identifying collaborators, potential partners, niche products, market intelligence, trends, experts, automated sales system...we will tell you secrets others use to create web traffic and income, that many have not heard of.

The power of what we will show you is amazing! It goes beyond the online mall, shopping cart, animated and catalogue sites. $2000 brochure web sites are dead. We will show some of the latest techniques often only learnt in a $600 seminar.

Today the web is becoming an enabler allowing many to make $1,000’s to $100,000’s and more, establish business and personal global networks, all by working from a simple office. We will show you resources to identify like-minded individuals you've yet to meet, who are waiting to offer you free, safe and legal accommodation in their home anywhere in the world.

The Tweet Twins will show live examples of how to create a web site $0 down, submit a Press Release, micro chat, upload and create online video, create a professional online network, automate cross linking of your online presence, and find products to give away for free as a thank you bonus.

For those who attend the seminar they will be eligible to join in a post-cluster event with a world leading guru on one of the aspects we will discuss.

Register by email before 23 June 2009 and receive a complimentary 48 page e-book on the Twitter phenomenon.

Bill Gates Speech to Mt Whitney High School

To anyone with kids of any age, here's some advice.
Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school.
He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for FAILURE IN THE REAL WORLD..

Rule 1:
Life is not fair - - GET USED TO IT

Rule 2:
The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3:
You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4:
If you think your teacher is tough,WAIT TILL YOU GET A BOSS

Rule 5:
Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping -- they called it opportunity.

Rule 6:
If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7:
Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8:
Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9:
Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10:
Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11:
Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
