Event Description

This is our last formal networkng event of 2010 and one not to be missed!

ICT, entertainment and publishing companies are struggling with scary new business models where consumers often look like they can take everything for nothing. But if the old IP and Digital Rights business models no longer work, the change can also spell opportunity. For as Luigi Cappel, Sales & Marketing Manager of GeoSmart (NZ) LTd, New Zealand's leading geospatial solutions provider, will explain, his company has generated real business gains through collaboration and “co-opetition”.

Luigi will explain how we are now entering an age where many phones and other mobile devices have GPS, enabling new services based around location. These include social media, proximity based marketing, location based games and multi-mode navigation. But instead of seeing all this as a threat, GeoSmart has discovered that by collaborating with others it can also be a wonderful opportunity.

Luigi will outline successful partnerships with organisations like AA Traffic, Route²GO and Business Analytics. His session will be an open discussion on driving new growth through working closely with companies who sometimes compete fiercely or are GeoSmart’s own competitors. It’s a new way of doing business, he says, and it can really work well for NZ ICT firms.

Following the presentation we will look for opportunities for attendees to collaborate in their own businesses. Think of it as speed dating for collaborative business growth. This is a great opportunity to stimulate a wave that can help your business prosper in 2011. Often we have great ideas, but can achieve and commercialise much more collectively than we can on our own.

GeoSmart is the market leader in maps for Car Navigation, Fleet Management, printed Maps and has launched services and solutions including AA Real Time Traffic, Route²GO route optimisation, and Web Maps based Business Analytics. Web sites using GeoSmart Maps include AA Maps, Bartercard Maps (web and iPhone) Bayleys Real Estate, Telecom Store Locator, Big Little City and North Harbour Business Association.

Luigi was the first elected President of the Wireless and Broadband Forum, has been a Vice President of the NZ Sales and Marketing Executives International, is a member of the World Future Society as well as a Full Writer Member of APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association). He wrote and published the eBook Unleashing the Roadwarrior.
